More Power. More Capacity.

Adding a whole-home generator or pool heater usually requires upgrading your gas service. We handle the math, the piping, and the utility coordination.

High-Demand Upgrades

  • Generators Requires massive gas volume to run your whole house.
  • 🏊
Pool Heaters Typically the largest gas appliance in a home.
  • ♾️
Tankless Heaters Need larger gas lines for instant heating power.

Don't Get Starved.

If you add a powerful appliance without upgrading your pipes, you risk "starving" your other equipment. This can cause your boiler to shut down or your generator to stall when you need it most.

Pinette Plumbing performs load calculations to determine if your current meter and piping can handle the added BTUs. If not, we install larger diameter pipes and work with the gas company to upgrade your meter.

Planning a Renovation?

Thinking about future additions? Let's size your main gas trunk correctly now so you don't have to repipe later.

Upgrade FAQs

Does the gas company charge for a larger meter?
Often, no. If you can prove you have added load (like a generator), they will typically upgrade the meter for free. However, you pay for the piping inside the house.
What is "high pressure" gas service?
It's a 2 PSI system (vs standard 7-inch water column). It allows us to carry much more gas through smaller pipes over long distances. It requires special regulators at each appliance.
How much does a service upgrade cost?
It depends on the length of the run and the difficulty of access. We provide free on-site estimates to give you an accurate price.
